Easy Organic Pumpkin Spice Syrup

Updated: Apr 24, 2022

Enjoy the sweet & spicy comforts of a PSL from home with this super simple organic pumpkin spice syrup recipe!

What You'll Need

-Small saucepan

-Fine mesh strainer

-Whisk or heat resistant spatula

-Organic Brown & granulated sugar (or a sugar substitute!)

-Organic Pumpkin Puree or a sugar pie pumpkin (bonus points for local!)

-Cinnamon sticks

-Pumpkin spice (blend of clove, cinnamon, nutmeg & the like.)

How to do it

  1. If using a whole pie pumpkin start by making your puree! (If you already have puree skip to step 2) Carefully cut the pumpkin into eighths, and roast at 350F until pumpkin is tender when poked with a fork (usually about half an hour.) Once the pumpkin is soft, scoop out of the skin into a bowl and mash together to form the puree.

  2. In your small saucepan melt together 1/2c brown sugar, 1/2c cane sugar and 1c of water. Stir frequently until melted then let simmer on med/low heat while stirring until the mixture slightly thickens for about 5minutes (keep a close eye so that the mixture doesn't burn!)

  3. After the sugar water thickens into a syrup add in 2 cinnamon sticks, 1 Tablespoon of pumpkin spice and 1/4 c pumpkin puree, whisk well and let mixture simmer for another couple of minutes. Take it off heat, and let the syrup steep for 5-10 minutes

  4. Strain the syrup through the mesh strainer into a bottle (a spouted oil bottle works best!) and enjoy!!

This syrup keeps refrigerated for a month or on the counter for a week. Separation is natural just give it a good swirl or shake before using it. Be sure to tag us @TheStandCoffeeCart on insta if you make this syrup!
